JENNY ANTILL Fashion Houston Countdown! Next month, designers from around the world —Zac Posen, Georges Chakra and Gemma Khang to name a few— convene at the Wortham Theater Center for the 3rd Annual Fashion Houston presented by Audi. Founder and co-creator Jared Lang is busy tying up details but stops for three minutes to chat with PaperCity about this year's shows and what lies ahead. What can we expect to see this year that we haven't seen in years past? We love our local designers, and they're definitely the foundation of Fashion Houston, but mixing Zac Posen them up with national fashion veterans is exciting. That said, it's great to have Zac Posen, Gemma King and Monique Lhuillier at Fashion Houston for the first time. Why Fashion Houston? There are a lot of fashionable people in Houston, from designers to dressers, and I felt it was time we were recognized. Fifty Fabulous Years Fashion! Models! Bright Lights! Get your tickets now for Fashion Houston, Monday – Thursday, November 12 – 15, at the Wortham Theater Center. Go online to see the full lineup of designers. Happy birthday, Elizabeth Anthony/Esther Wolf! Kate Stukenberg Herve Leger by Max Azria Our eye is on Cedric Charlier, a new Belgium design wunderkind who put in his time at Celine in Paris under Michael Kors and Jean Paul Knott, collaborated with Alber Elbaz at Lanvin for six years, then became creative director of Cacharel, reinventing the brand. Charlier follows timeless classics and breaks the codes of naïve, raw art, much like the painted faces and portraits he collects, searching for the hidden soul. His fall/winter debut collection under his own moniker was bought by Barneys New York and a chosen few of the best specialty stores around the globe. In Houston, the debut fall collection is at Tootsies, and in Dallas, at Forty Five Ten. Be Our Guest Goes BanAnnas Famed fashion editor Anna Dello Russo is bringing her crazy cool sense of style to H&M with a collection of accessories launching Thursday, October 4. A darling of the streetstyle blogosphere whose Anna Dello Russo outlandish fashion has been endlessly documented — but rarely duplicated — Dello Russo brings her love of ornamentation to the folk with accessible jewelry, sunglasses, handbags and shoes. "I wanted to create precious accessories that are impossible to find," Dello Russo says, which she hopes will allow devotees to "turn an ordinary day into a fantastic fashion day" with the simple addition of a charm or pair of embellished sunnies. The project represents a new challenge for the noted fashion director, who is the only non-designer to ever create a collection for H&M. Are you up for it? $25 to $299, at H&M and hm.com. Caroline Gallay T Restaurant Buzz he Pass & Provisions is opening as we go to press, in the former Gravitas spot on Taft. Chef/ owners Terrence Gallivan and Seth Siegel-Gardner's greatlooking eatery with an industrial edge is two concepts in one. The Pass serves forth a fine-dining experience with a tasting menu (only), while Provisions is the casual side of this buzzed-about eatery, a communitycentered space built around a glowing woodfired oven. There's dining inside and out, with craft cocktails, too. More next month … Ryan Pera and Morgan Weber, co-owners of Revival Market, are opening a rustic Italian eatery around the corner in the Heights. Colivare continues the guys' commitment to seasonal regional ingredients and will have a 3,000-square-foot garden to provide vegetable provisions to both the market and their new eatery set to debut in Spring 2013 … Chef Ryan Hildebrande, who opened Triniti earlier this year to great acclaim, is working on his next concept that's due to debut fall 2013. The Cat's Meow We've seen animals immortalized in the art world — most memorably, a cat sarcophagus in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's Tut blockbuster last fall — and we've covered myriad animal benefits in town. But rarely have fine art, literary prose and feline causes melded. Until now. Enter the compelling, lyrical volume Cat Lady Chronicles (Officina Libraria, Milan, Italy, $21.99), penned by MFAH publications director Diane Lovejoy. This book pairs the true-life tale of a love affair with cats with images of felines in art throughout the ages — lithographs, photographs and paintings culled from the collections of venerable institutions from the Tate to the MFAH, by talents including Frida Kahlo, Brassaï, Winslow Homer, Joseph Wright of Derby and Paul Klee. Proceeds of this gem of a book benefit Cat Rescue Fund at The Cat Doctor, Houston, and Friends for Life. Available at area booksellers The MFAH Shop, River Oaks Bookstore, Barnes & Noble, as well as Amazon, where it's listed as a hot new release in the cat category. Meow! Catherine D. Besides serving lunch and dinner, Lucille's also caters … Calling all chocolate connoisseurs: Locally churned Trentino Gelato has released a new line of single-source cocoa-bean flavors — seven in all, plucked from growing regions the world over. Buy them at Spec's downtown, with Central Market and Whole Foods Market soon to follow … The InterContinental Houston in the Galleria area has quietly morphed into The Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston. This AAA-approved, four-diamond hotel with nearly 500 rooms is the only Sonesta property in Texas. (We've also spotted signs in the Sage area that InterContinental's more casual chain, Hotel Indigo, is transitioning into a Sonesta brand as well.) Sonesta is known for embracing the spirit of the city where their properties are situated, so look for some renovations to the RSHH in the coming months … Katie Barnhart Adair and Nick Adair have opened Adair Kitchen on San Felipe at Sage. The siblings — their father is Gary Adair, who started Skeeter's Hamburgers — are serving up American cuisine via counter service at their new breakfast, lunch and dinner joint that's reminiscent of the food they grew up eating.
