So when one has the opportunity to cross paths with a living legend — as I did during a cocktail preview at the Dallas Museum of Art — it is a magic moment. Given photographer Cindy Sherman's icon status, one might assume she could be unapproachable, but she graciously greeted guests and answered questions while wearing a Prada ensemble straight out of the pages of Vogue, complete with those jaw-dropping Prada geisha-inspired sandals with matching leather socks. I spent a good hour wandering the galleries in awe, especially of the early 1970s film-still works that put Sherman on the map. (It was also surreal watching certain guests take in the socialite series — I assume they felt like they were looking in the mirror.) Picture perfect: Howard and Cindy Rachofsky, John and Jennifer Eagle, Shelby Wagner, Niven Morgan, Michael and Robyn Siegel, Cindy Schwartz, Brooke Hortenstine, and John and Lisa Runyon. In keeping with Dallas Contemporary's mission of supporting young and innovative artists, the crowd was youthful and creative in its attire. It was wonderful to catch up with my former Barneys gal Havilah Bender, who is now with Traffic. She always finds a way to look girly/edgy — our very own Lisbeth Salander — and she did not disappoint in a Twenty Cluny dress and Rick Owens jacket. Supermodel Erin Wasson opted for the latter's chic rocker style for her slinky frame as well. Other notables - Brian Bolke in Maison Martin Margiela paired with Dogan to-die-for YSL loafers and first-namePerese at DC only Kane in Balmain, which appeared inspired by Steven Soderbergh's Liberace bio-doc Behind the Candelabra. Additional art patrons on view: event chair Michelle Moussa, honorary chairs Beth Ewing and Karla McKinley, Jenny and John Kirtland, Debbie Ryan, Paula North, Logan Waller, and Belinda Beverly accompanied by our favorite NM guy Matthew Simon. But my handsdown favorite ensemble was Niven Morgan's white Viktor & Rolf trousers embroidered with Mad Men-esque black glasses — the evening's gift bag was a Viktor & Rolf tote with the same pattern.
