Diamonds d'Art Becca Cason Thrash Giovanni Mattera Phoebe Tudor De Grisogono brings high-wattage glamour to Hotel Granduca. PHOEBE SEWARD REFLECTS ON THE REFINEMENT. PHOTOGRAPHY JEREME BROWN. A Mickey Ables Susie Criner Bobby Tudor Dorothy Ables Rosemarie Johnson Natalie Lefevre n extensive assemblage of fiery solitaires and jeweled baubles gleamed within a cozy salon at Hotel Granduca for the formal presentation of de Grisogono's High Jewelry Collection. To commemorate the occasion, de Grisogono brand ambassador Giovanni Isabel David Mattera chose Hermann Park Conservancy Centennial Campaign chairmen Phoebe Tudor and Sanford Criner, joined by Bobby Tudor and Susie Criner as honorees, with a check presented by Mattera at evening's end to Hermann Park Conservancy's yearlong Centennial Campaign. The contemporary baroque style of Fawaz Gruosi, founder of the Geneva-based luxury jeweler de Grisogono, has been redefining the four C's (cut, color, carat and clarity) for the past 20 years. Upon launching the famed black diamond collection in 1996, de Grisogono became one of the most sought-after jewelers in the world, adding a fifth C to the diamond standard: creativity. After all, why wear a conversation starter when you can leave them speechless. Sparkling in the decadence: Isabel David, Lynn Wyatt, Rania Daniel, Becca Cason Thrash, Kathleen O'Reilly, Sabiha Rehmatulla, Francine Ballard, Richard Dawson, Carolyn and Jimmy Robertson, Jennifer and Steve Dolman, Greg Fourticq Jr., Sara Dodd, Farida Midani Martin, Natalie Lefevre, Martha Walton, Linda Kelly, Rosemarie Johnson, Hermann Park executive director Doreen Stoller, Sandy and Lee Godfrey, Dorothy and Mickey Ables, Ann Kennedy, Jane Block, Dean Putterman, Leigh and Reggie Smith, and de Grisogono's Denise De Luca and Sabrina Baldieri. Chairman Ian Fay Chairman Kathryn Fay "Y Rebecca Thomas Mark Sullivan Jeff Smith Christie Sullivan Haag Sherman SETH VAUGHAN BASKS IN THE GLOW OF THE DISCO BALLS. PHOTOGRAPHY MICHELLE WATSON. ou look fabulous," proclaimed "Liza Minnelli" — outfitted, naturally, in a red Halston pantsuit. Meanwhile, "Andy Warhol," fiddling with his drink, seemed hard-pressed for more than a meager "hello." It was Chairman Liz pretty heady stuff for a Saturday night in Houston, but Glanville nothing less will do when raising money to ensure the Children's Museum of Houston continues as a haven for curious young minds. Overseeing the Studio 54-themed evening were chairmen Liz and Tom Glanville and Kathryn and Ian Fay. Both couples were immaculately turned out in '70s finery. After cocktails — which had this scribe trading bons mots with the handyman from the Village People — dinner was accompanied by a concert from "Donna Summer," with some guests Andy scampering to the dance floor before dessert was served. The Corinthian was appointed much like the famous 254 West 54th Street boîte in its heyday. Rebekah Johnson of Bergner & Johnson brought in bushels of immaculate Casablanca lilies and votives for tables (in deference to 54 regular Elsa Peretti) and created an enchanting disco-ball instillation suspended from scaffolding above the dance floor. Punctuating the evening were silent and live auctions, chaired by Christie and Mark Sullivan and Courtney and Bo Hopson, which all told brought in just shy of a million dollars. Loving the nightlife: board president Randy Allen with wife Laurie, 54 alum Mickey Rosmarin, Melissa and Michael Mithoff, Krystal and Garrett Thompson, Tim Moloney, Star and Jack Massing (cutting a rug on the dance floor), Courtney and Bill Toomey, Candice and Vince Young, Gina and Mario Elie, Joella and Steve Mach, and Stephanie and Ernie Cockrell.
