I pen this column snuggled under an Hermès cashmere blanket at 1 am; I am rarely awake at this hour, but tonight's Forty Five Ten Bonjour Y'all — Dallas Salute to Paris party, a chic little tip of the chapeau to the Chanel Métier d'Arts and Karl Lagerfeld extravaganza held the nuit prior, was entertaining in every way and provided my mid-December second wind. The emporium was packed, and Ms. Wrubel — the closest thing we have to a live disco ball, always swirling to the beat in something dazzling — spurred on the partygoers. In the T Room, transformed into a nightclub, I spied the DJ extraordinariness decked in Chanel (perhaps a leftover from a walk of shame the night before?), defying gravity, twirling in golden Blahniks. She leaned over to give me an air-kiss then whipped out her phone to show me pics of Karl, Anna and André. Forty Five Ten, along with Farfetch and Atelier Swarovski, hosted a star-studded guest list that included some of my favorite designers: Joseph Altuzarra, Eddie Borgo, Greg Chait of the Elder Statesman, Carlos Huber of Arquiste, and über-talented shoe designer Alejandro Ingelmo, gorgeous makeup man Edward Bess, exotic-skins designer Elizabeth Weinstock, and Antica Farmacista's Shelley Callaghan and Susanne Pruitt. Playing along with the concept of being "visible from space," Cameron Silver (the star of Bravo's The Dukes of Melrose and proprietor of L.A. vintage mega-store Decades) breezed into the scene in a pink tux jacket, and half a dozen cases of whiplash ensued when heads spun to witness the stunning Anne Hathaway enter the room with her jewelry designer husband, Adam Shulman of James Banks. The Swarovski-studded Christmas tree created by Todd Fiscus and his elves had sparkle-envy from some of the other bejeweled and shiny lovelies, including Miroslava Duma and Erin Wasson. The Y'all crowd included Tina Craig, Piper Wyatt, Muffin Lemak, Matthew Simon, Christen and Derek Wilson, Brooke Hortenstine, Jacqueline and Max Anderson, Kari Bentley, Patty Dedman Nail, Julie Hawes, and Julie and Jimmy Musselman. Many of the festive crowd found their way to the after-party with Brian Bolke, who kept the merriment going at The Joule Hotel. As I begin to contemplate sleep, the Psychedelic Furs' Love My Way comes on, a track on my Bonjour Y'all CD that I found in my gift bag. Perfect ending to a flawless night — adieu, y'all. But that's not all, folks. The following day, at the civilized hour of noon straight up, the aforementioned designers and Mr. Bolke held a morning-after "meet and greet" champagne soirée for PaperCity's Max Trowbridge, applauding her new position as Dallas editor in chief and group director. A little hair of the dog: Gabrielle de Papp, Jo Marie Lilly, Myra Walker, and Kate Wagner.
