A erin Lauder, the granddaughter of beauty maven Estée Lauder, ventured to Dallas for intimate book signings, lectures around town and, of course, a little party hopping. With an eye for style and a knack for business, Aerin has released a collection of fabrics and rugs — the latest addition to her genteel home creations following the launch of her book, Beauty at Home (Potter Style). This partnership with super-chic fabric house Lee Jofa offers wall coverings in winter and spring floral prints, with strong motifs in chevron and damask. Once you've perused the book, now you can shop the look. We sat down for a chat with the lovely Ms. Lauder during her book signing at the Lee Jofa showroom, amidst textiles galore. ABOUT A YEAR AGO, YOU LAUNCHED YOUR MAKEUP COLLECTION, AND NOW YOU'RE ENTERING THE WORLD OF LIFESTYLE AND HOME DESIGN. WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR LIVING A BEAUTIFUL LIFE? To me, beauty at home means finding pieces that you love and bringing them together in a way that feels elegant and modern, but at the same time comfortable and easy. I apply these principles to each collection I design. Each Aerin piece — whether in beauty, accessories or home — is meant to feel pretty, modern, effortless and approachable. I find inspiration for design in so many places: travel, nature and artwork. Inspiration is everywhere, if you're open to it. YOU'VE SAID THAT YOUR GRANDMOTHER, ESTÉE, TAUGHT YOU TO SEE GOLD AS A NEUTRAL. ANY OTHER COLORFUL WORDS OF WISDOM THAT YOU KEEP IN MIND WHILE DESIGNING? Estée's favorite color was blue, and growing up she was surrounded by the color; it has really become a favorite of mine as well. I have whole rooms decorated in shades of blue or little blue accents in other spaces. IN TERMS OF YOUR NEW FABRIC COLLECTION, IS THERE A PARTICULAR TEXTILE OR COLOR YOU ARE CURRENTLY OBSESSING OVER? I love our new Meadowood Onyx. It's the perfect winter floral, and I can imagine it being used on pillows to give a rich winter feeling in a sitting room. SURROUNDING ONESELF WITH BEAUTY AND FAMILY ARE WORDS YOU LIVE BY. IS THERE A FAVORITE PLACE OR SACRED SPOT THAT YOU SHARE WITH YOUR FAMILY? My grandmother passed down my home in Wainscott, and I felt a responsibility to preserve the grace and style of the home — not just out of respect for her, but also because I have so many special memories of that house from my childhood. At the same time, I wanted to adapt the space to feel modern and comfortable enough to suit my own family. Estée's bedroom is exactly the way she left it, and I've left many of her photographs, drawings and other mementos throughout the house. IN YOUR BOOK, PHOTOGRAPHER SIMON UPTON CAPTURES YOUR LIFESTYLE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY. HOW DID THIS COLLABORATION EVOLVE? I've been a longtime fan of Simon's work. We met when he photographed me for Elle Décor, and it was such a great experience. I thought he would be the perfect partner to bring the book to life. Jane Rozelle Always one to embrace the ever-evolving design industry, Culp Associates has added a charming new name to the roster: Confettis by Pierre Frey — the showroom's first children's collection in more than 30 years. The designs were inspired by a fairy tale in which two children try to find a key to the world of their dreams and, on their journey, encounter fairies sprinkled with multicolored confetti. This whimsical collection consists of enchanting embroideries and beautifully timeless toiles. At Culp Associates, culpassociates.com. First up is Dallas, slated for June in the Dallas Design Center, followed by Houston in late July at Decorative Center Houston. Dallas outsizes Houston with 13,000 square feet; the Houston showroom is 3,500 square feet. But both will carry all Holly Hunt Collections, including lighting and furniture, Great Plains and Great Outdoors textiles, and Holly Hunt Leather; as well as lighting from Alison Berger and Kevin Reilly; furniture from Jean-Michel Wilmotte, Ralph Rucci and Tristan Auer; Beyond Borders Rugs; and a personal passion, Christian Astuguevieille furniture. hollyhunt.com. Holly Moore OF THE HUNT Thrill Odense chairs, Holly Hunt Studio Dee sofa, Arno benches, both Tristan Auer; all furnishings at Holly Hunt Confetti Confessions S uperstar French designer Jacques Garcia evokes awe among his peers — and not a little envy, one might surmise, once this book launches. Garcia purchased the imposing Château du Champ de Bataille 20 years ago in a crumbly state of ruin. Not one to embrace shabby chic, Garcia meticulously restored the imposing pile to such magnificent and sublime heights that it takes 400 pages to detail the sweeping pastoral views, hectare after hectare of formal gardens, rare S vres porcelain, sculpture and art, even a hall of taxidermy in the accompanying fantastical folly. Jacques Garcia: Twenty Years of Passion by Jacques Garcia and Alain Stella (Rizzoli $125) is a meticulous accounting of the restoration of Garcia's 17th- and 18th- century château. And since this is Garcia's personal home (and we might not be invited over anytime soon), we'll revel in the 355 sumptuous photographs. Holly Moore Jacques' is Our Château Château Aerin Lauder
