"LOVING THE MOKUM SABA LINEN AND MOKUM DE ROSINE IN PEARL." — Cynthia Collins "GEORGE HAS SO MANY GREAT LINES THAT IT'S HARD TO CHOOSE. PERHAPS THE NEW EMBROIDERED FABRIC FROM TRAVERS AS IT'S FRESH AND INNOVATIVE." — Richard Trimble "CURRENTLY, I'M LOVING ALL THE ROGERS & GOFFIGON TEXTURES. THE COLORS ARE GREAT." — Josie McCarthy "HAVING TO SELECT ONE IS TOUGH! IF I HAD TO, I WOULD PROBABLY GO WITH LUIGI BEVILACQUA FABRICS FROM VENICE — THEY'RE SO RICH AND GRAND. AND I HAVE TO ADMIT, THE NEW HERMÈS FABRICS AND WALL COVERINGS ARE SO FUN. I CAN'T WAIT TO START USING THEM!" — Gonzalo Bueno By George, I Think He Did It! "R EBELLIOUS TENDENCY" was the stated reason for the grand anniversary celebration. Why celebrate 25 or 30 years when you can toast to 27? This proclamation was just one of the meticulous party-planning credos employed by the man of the hour — George Cameron Nash, who celebrates 27 years since the opening of his eponymous showroom. And host he did, sharing the honors with partner Mark Williams and opening up his newly buffed doors to more than 700 of his closest crew. Nash served up surprises right and left … some on Hermès lacquered trays. The United Voices Choir from Shiloh Baptist Church belted out a melodic entrance for the catalog of notables and the 40-piece Lone Star Wind Orchestra, ensconced on a second-floor loft, played everything from Beethoven to Broadway show tunes. A stickler for detail, the energetic Nash wore a custom-made Giliberto jacket fashioned from Travers chintz trimmed in Janet Yonaty passementerie as he worked the room — opting for a hug here, a kiss there and, of course, talking shop with designers and architects, who traveled from L.A. to Rome, Milan, Paris, London, etc. to attend. As the orchestra played, Nash gathered family, friends and associates for yet another exciting announcement: He and partner Mark Williams were engaged, with a date set in the coming weeks. (And wed they did, at their home in Provincetown where Nash and Williams summer.) As the crowd cheered, toasts were made and caviar consumed. Toasting the hosts: Emanuele Castellini, Allen Kirsch, Elizabeth Searl, Cathy Kincaid, Mark Patterson, Sally Walshe, Carole and Lee Pierce, designer Randy Powers and Bill Caudell in from Houston. Also attending: Mary Pate, Nancy Leib, Peggy Levinson, Leslie Jenkins, Roger Cahooh, Dennis O'Hara, Kevin Shrum, Lucia Schito, Sandra Jordan, Peter Fasano, and Lee Hitt.
