DOROTHY HOOD The Color of Being / El Color del Ser Organized by the Art Museum of South Texas "A r t? A r t is life, per formed on an edge and in aloneness." - D orothy Hood The Ar t Museum of South Texas in Corpus Christi, has received signicant suppor t to document and honor the career of 20th centur y American Modernist Dorothy Hood. Her life and ar t will be proled in a major retrospective exhibition and full color, hard bound book (written by Guest Curator/Author, Susie K alil) entitled D orothy Hood (1918-2000): The Color of Being/El Color del S er – the rst critical over view of Hood's paintings and works on paper produced from the early 1940s until her death in 2000. Opening in September 2016 at the Ar t Museum of South Texas, works for the exhibition will be drawn from the Museum's expansive holdings (AMST acquired a major por tion of the Hood estate in 2001), in addition to museums, foundations and private collections across the countr y.
