PROJECT: Campbell Boys' Room NATHAN SCHRODER RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR DESIGN — DINING OR ENTERTAINING SPACE FIRST PLACE: DONIPHAN MOORE INTERIORS, LEAD DESIGNER DONIPHAN MOORE RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR DESIGN — CHILDREN'S ROOM FIRST PLACE: M. BARNES & CO., LEAD DESIGNER MARCI BARNES PROJECT: Aberdeen Billiard Room DESIGN CONCEPT: The monochromatic palette of green and petrol in this dark, sultry billiard room is both layered and decadent. Sumptuous silk-velvet upholstery and solid-wool draperies by Rogers & Goffigon frame the window, while lacquered paneling on the walls and ceiling adds architectural integrity. Lighting by Urban Electric Co. keeps the floor space open and clean. Moore designed the custom banquette/sofa and had it upholstered in silk velvet by Holland & Sherry. An antique Oushak carpet and vintage pieces add to the eclectic vibe, alongside lighting by Jean de Merry, a full-service bar and kitchen, and four beverage refrigerators. JUDGES' REMARKS: "Rich and decadent — great color, textile and rug choices and execution of bespoke detailing." — Timothy Whealon "Such a moody environment this room gives off." — Martyn Lawrence Bullard "Richly detailed and imaginative."— Brian McCarthy "Love the dark and sultry notes in this space — very chic." — Jesse Carrier & Mara Miller RUNNER-UP: Doniphan Moore Interiors, lead designer Doniphan Moore, for Aberdeen Family Room DESIGN CONCEPT: This project was conceived for a client moving into a new home whose two young boys (ages 4 and 5) would share a room. She wanted to create a fun, upbeat space that would suit them for a long time. Most importantly, she wanted a custom look, not the typical store-bought kids' room. Making the room look larger are two symmetrical upholstered twin beds with round mirrors above and, between the beds, one large console table with wall-mounted lamps, as opposed to more traditional bedside tables. Seating cubes beneath the console pull out to create a homework space or additional playtime seating. Bold stripes and geometric patterns in contrasting scales add visual interest and make the room both youthful and classic. JUDGES' REMARKS: "Love! Exceptional use of color and pattern and bespoke detailing on pillows. Great textile choices." — Timothy Whealon "Lucky boys!" — Jesse Carrier & Mara Miller "Great details, graphic quality and choice of color and patterns." — Brian McCarthy RUNNER-UP: Kirsten Kelli, designers Kirsten Fitzgibbons and Kelli Ford, for Pastel Playroom/Children's Room DANNY PIASSICK PROJECT: Modern Master Bathroom DESIGN CONCEPT: After purchasing their dream property, the homeowners' next goal was to design a home that reminded them of vacation properties they had visited and loved. A spa look and feel was achieved in the master bath through clean lines, wood and neutral colors. New Mexico travertine (used on the floor throughout the house) continues down the hallway of the master bedroom wing into the bath. Soft green-beige-toned sea grass limestone was chosen for the tub deck, and vanity countertops were accented by pale-green textured-glass tiles from Ann Sacks. The couple requested a shower big enough for two, which contributes to the spa sensibilities of the space along with a Millennium 7 whirlpool tub. The custom-sized Cascade Luminaire ceiling fixture from Boyd Lighting — the wife loves its bubble CHARLES DAVIS SMITH, AIA RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR DESIGN SINGULAR SPACE — BATH FIRST PLACE: LINDA FRITSCHY INTERIOR DESIGN, LEAD DESIGNER LINDA FRITSCHY; ARCHITECT DOMITEAUX BAGGETT ARCHITECTS characteristics — illuminates the tub without blocking the view beyond. Custom-sized bath rugs were made of woven strips of nylon to provide a maintenance-free and safe surface. JUDGES' REMARKS: "Really love the natural look of this bathroom design. Such a beautiful contrast of the dark wood and neutral colors." — Martyn Lawrence Bullard "Elegant modern." — Mary McDonald "Extremely well planned, executed and finished." — Brian McCarthy RUNNER-UP: M. Barnes & Co., designer Marci Barnes, for Westlake Master Bath JANUARY | PAGE 21 | 2016
