T here's a certain breed of supermodel — the originals — whose game-changing style and beauty forever place them in an elite circle: Naomi, Cindy, Linda, Claudia, Christy, Kate. They dominated the worlds of fashion and beauty in the late '80s and early '90s and remain recognizable faces all over the world. No surprise, then, that a lengthy queue formed at Forty Five Ten when Cindy Crawford came to town for an evening of cocktails and to sign her first book, Becoming (Rizzoli). It's been a runaway success with its engaging collection of Crawford's life stories, plus many of her most famous photographs by master lensmen Herb Ritts, Peter Lindbergh and Steven Meisel. With copies in hands, hundreds of guests lined up — through the T Room and spilling into the store's back parking lot — waiting for their turn to chat with the stunning brunette. Not only is Crawford beautiful, but she's perfectly sociable, we learned, as she posed for dozens of photos and spent time conversing with each person who stepped up for a signature. Naturally, a popular topic was graceful aging — the model just turned 50 and looks as flawless as she did in 1992 in a Super Bowl Pepsi commercial that propelled her to fame. Book clubbers: Forty Five Ten owner Brian Bolke; Jamie O'Banion, Max Trowbridge, Lainie Kritser, Lisa Petty, Meg Florence, Courtney Sinelli, Piper Wyatt, Megan Wood, and Meghan Looney.
