S E P T E M B E R 29 – O C TO B E R 2, t x c o n t e m p o r a r y . c o m HOUSTON 32 Vertigo water pitcher, $970 COURTESY THE ARTIST AND MOODY GALLERY, HOUSTON COURTESY THE ARTIST AND PARALLEL OAXACA, MEXICO S weet Southerner Reese Witherspoon has enchanted us with her memorable movie lines ("What, like it's hard?" regarding Harvard) and girl-next-door allure. Last fall, the actress delved into retail when she opened her first boutique, Draper James, in her hometown of Nashville. This month, Witherspoon's second Draper James opens in Highland Park Village. Named for her grandparents, Dorothea Draper and William James Witherspoon, the charming shop stocks women's ready-to-wear, accessories, and home decoratives evoking Witherspoon's Southern heritage — gingham shirtdresses, lace baseball caps, mint julep cups, and bags emblazoned with "Totes, Y'all!" and "Hello, Sugar." Interior designer Mark Sikes (see page 134 for our story on Sikes), who designed the Nashville store as well as Witherspoon's home, is also the mastermind behind the blue, REESE'S Pieces yellow, navy, and white palette of the Dallas boutique. In a local nod, a custom "Howdy" balloon image by photographer and Dallas native Gray Malin hangs inside. Bring on the sweet tea. Linden Wilson SILVER SERVICE Arborescence articulated candelabra in stainless steel, $1,900 W hen silversmith Charles Christofle founded his namesake company in 1830, the dashing Frenchman became one of the most sought- after designers in the country, commissioned to work on such projects as the façade of the Paris Opera and Napoleon III's Château des Tuileries. The recently opened Christofle boutique at Highland Park Village may be a petite 300 square feet, but it packs plenty of polished punch, brimming with exquisite collections the historic maison is known for, including crystal, flatware, tableware, jewelry as well as picture frames and heirloom trinkets for children, all of which can be monogrammed. While Christofle carries collections designed for the silversmith by Marcel Wanders, Ora ïto, Jean-Marie Massaud, and Eric Schmitt, the Christofle design studio's latest iteration of the modernist Mood flatware set in gold ($10,000) is what catches our eye. Your tabletop just got sexier. Christofle, 67 Highland Park Village, 214.560.1105, christofle.com.
