64 J ames Malone's cheerful and exotic textiles are in- spired by his globetrotting life — blooming cacti, Kilims, African drawings, classic English hounds- tooth, and other global references. His brand of cultural soup has now made its way across the pond to Culp Associates, one of only three showrooms in America — and the only in Texas — to carry the line. To the trade at Culp Associates, Dallas Design Center, Suite 500, 214.651.0510, culpassociates.com. Rebecca Sherman CULTURE Cloth S ubdued grays and beiges are so last year. B&B Italia — which just celebrated its 50th anniversary — is all about deep, rich purples, yellows, and reds. While the venerable Italian furniture house doesn't introduce new collections often — Antonio Citterio's sleek Charles sofa ($12,269), was launched in 1997, and Patricia Urquiola's upholstered Fat Fat tables debuted in 2002 — the collections always feel fresh, decked out in new hues and materials. Another Citterio design, the Mart chair ($9,847), was conceived in 2003 and remains a stunning contemporary classic, now dressed in thick luggage- tone leather. B&B Italia has a gorgeous new showroom in the Dallas Design District, open to the public, carrying collections by Zaha Hadid, Patricia Urquiola, Etore Sottsass, Mario Bellini, along with Antonio Citterio's Max Alto.
