letter publisher STEVEN VISNEAU, SISTERBROTHER MGMT 16 M ay is a month of exploration of all things new and the engaging. To start, we look at the growth and expansion in the Metroplex with PaperCity's North Texas Special Section. From new developments and hotels to restaurants and retail spaces, there is certainly rapid and unprecedented growth. Our editors take a closer look at Legacy West in Plano, the soon-to-open mixed-use de- velopment that welcomes both established Dallas businesses — Pockets Menswear, for example — and national companies, including Tesla and Dean & Deluca. Nearby in Frisco, it's an exciting time for The Star, world headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys, an entertainment district and much more, as they continue development of the campus. As we go to press on this issue, they're installing internationally relevant works of contemporary art throughout. And, this summer, they'll open a new Omni hotel next door. While some businesses are heading north, others are making the op- posite migration. We get the latest from Front Burner Restaurants, led by mighty restaurateurs with established spots in Plano such as Whiskey Cake and Sixty Vines, who are now expanding to Uptown Dallas. Watch for the opening of Sixty Vines at the Crescent later this year. There's also much to discover on the art front this month, including the PaperCity-sponsored Soluna presented by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. In its third year, the festival spans from early May to early June and is truly a sensory feast, combining international artists with performances by Dallas organizations. You must try to attend at least one of these engaging and innovative performances. For a full recap of the schedule, visit papercitymag.com. An exhibition that embodies both art and fashion is one we've anxiously awaited: "Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion" opens this month at the Dallas Museum of Art and includes 45 couture pieces by the Dutch fashion designer (through August 20). Dive into deeper examination of the designer with Dallas managing editor Linden Wilson's overview on pages 36 and 38. Whether you are heading northbound, attending a lively performance or visiting a museum, we hope this issue encourages you to explore. Briana Buxbaum Dallas Publisher briana@papercitymag.com
