76 THE SASSY NEW T h e n e w I t a l i a n eatery Sassetta, the second of three new restaurant concepts f r o m H e a d i n g t o n Companies to open in the Dallas Design District, is refreshingly simple yet reminiscent of Harry's Bar in Venice. A coral-hued door swings wide to reveal cool marble tabletops, an intimate gold bar, sleek tile and wood floors, and butter-soft brown leather banquettes. Along with gastropub Wheelhouse and the soon- to-open coffee shop Go Go, the three Headington restaurants are managed by chefs Brian Zenner and Michael Sindoni and share a 10,000-square- foot complex at the Decorative Center, anchored by an al fresco atrium where New York artist Daniel Arsham's 18-foot sculpture Moving Figure overlooks Oak Lawn Avenue. Start the evening with a Sassetta Spritz with Prosecco, Aperol, and vermouth, or appetizers of whipped ricotta and sourdough toast. The Caesar salad is a divine creation of crunchy sourdough croutons, salted and cured bottarga, and lemon-anchovy vinaigrette. Next up might be thin-crust pizzas topped with taleggio, parmesan, black pepper, and burnt honey; or spaghetti with shrimp, Fresno chili, and pistachio, and carbonara blended with guanciale, spinach, lemon, and walnuts. To end the night, the layered lemon cake with olive oil chiffon, pine nuts, and rosemary is a relatively light choice. Or dive into a dark-chocolate budino — a cake/pudding hybrid with olive oil and a cocoa crumble. As we go to press, Sassetta is open for dinner service only, but breakfast and lunch should debut in the coming weeks. Sassetta, 1617 Hi Line Dr., 214.307.5695, sassetta-dallas.com.
