letter editor STEVEN VISNEAU, SISTERBROTHER MGMT. 18 P lease forgive the cliché — but it is, after all, the month of giving thanks. As I write this note, I find myself especially grateful for one thing: the PaperCity team. In Dallas, I am always excited for copy that comes by way of our brilliant home design editor Rebecca Sherman, who has a deft hand at weaving stories that paint dreamy worlds that are equally elegant and historically significant. Rebecca is also becoming my go-to for book recommendations. I was thrilled when I arrived at the office to find a copy of A Gentleman in Moscow sitting on my desk with a note from Rebecca telling me she thought I would love it. (I desperately look forward to a Thanksgiving break so I can read Amor Towles' raved- about novel.) Without managing editor Linden Wilson, I may not stay sane. Sure, she is a wildly talented — enviable, really — writer who can wax poetic about everything from food to fashion to art, but it's her level-headed demeanor and quietly witty humor that make her especially important to have around during the more chaotic deadlines. (Rumor has it she is working on a book of her own — something I hope she completes sooner rather than later, because after I finish A Gentleman in Moscow, I'll need a new read.) Senior editor Lisa Collins Shaddock, the newest member to our editorial team, has added yet another burst of talent and eye for style to the team. She has quickly embraced the on-the-town lifestyle that defines our fall season and has also become our go-to gal for designer interviews that run exclusively on papercitymag.com. (Next time you see her, ask about Aquazzura designer Edgardo Osorio. Don't tell her husband, but we think she's in love.) On the digital side of the magazine, we couldn't possibly survive without Natalie Gempel — our digital reporter/social media editor who also doubles as a model and inspires us all with her off-duty fashion sense and talent as a reporter. Lately, several of our most dedicated PaperCity print readers have gone out of their way to tell me how much they love our online content. This is largely thanks to Natalie, who has single-handedly raised the bar for digital storytelling. Our sales and marketing team, led by Dallas publisher Briana Buxbaum, is another sharp group of passionate, intelligent women. And while we are a mostly female team around here, I would be remiss to leave one person off this list: distribution manager Will Logg, the man responsible for making sure our magazine ends up in all the right places each month. Will has known me since my early days as a college-aged intern at PaperCity, and while he is all over town most of the day, I always look forward to our afternoon chats — about everything from politics to music to cats. I may be biased, but I can't think of a harder working group of people. For that, I am grateful. Christina Geyer Dallas Editor in Chief christina@papercitymag.com
