SCENES FETE SET from the BREWS, BITES, AND BRAIN RESEARCH L ast year, Laree Hulshoff and the brains behind the Aging Mind Foundation had the idea to tack a casual fall event onto their year of fund- raising (which culminates Saturday, March 23, with the organization's namesake gala). So it was that we found ourselves back at Katy Trail Ice House for the second iteration of Brews, Bites and Brain Research. Chaired by Ashley Tatum and Carey Moen, the event was a welcome respite from the fl urry of dressed-up cocktail events that dot our social calendars. This was a jeans type of affair, with no end to barbecue and beer. And, the cause is as worthy as it gets: raising money to fund high-quality research to prevent, cure, and slow the progression of Alzheimer's and dementia.
