these canvases at Art League was both profound and moving — the show is sold out except for one remaining drawing, with its most epic work, Untitled, 2020, going to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, where it has pride of place in the new Kinder Building. This body of work by Lowe represents a distillation of thousands of hours of conversation around a domino table, where ideas of community and exhibitions and programming were hatched. The paintings also resemble blocks of neighborhoods, portending that beauty and history and, above all, the people who inhabit this place can be seen and elevated to the importance they deserve. Muñoz's solo is a fitting pendant show with Lowe's. This feminist voice, raised in El Paso, speaks with a clarion call via her installations and images for the right of inclusion — for the Latin community, LGBTQ people, and women.
