T he new Crown Bar in La Grange has been described b y o n e l o c a l h a b i t u é a s a n u p s c a l e F r e n c h s a l o o n . W i t h rakish lounging, craft cocktails, and live music, Beth Weishuhn of Dirty Bohemian fame, her dad Larry Weishuhn, and partner Andy Johnson have brought a stylish watering hole to historic downtown La Grange. The building originally served as the offices for a circa-1897 bottling operation, the Crown Soda Factory. "The building is gorgeous," Weishuhn says. "We wanted to pay homage to the history of the structure that had once been Crown Soda's distribution office — one of the only times this space was nonalcoholic. The bar basically named itself." Fans of Beth's Dirty Bohemian clothing line will recognize her sartorial bent in the second-floor horn mounts and fur pelts oozing Prohibition-Era speakeasy style. Bar manager/bartender Graydon Terry creates weekly drink menus utilizing infusions and fresh squeezed juices, and there's live music in the upstairs lounge and outdoor biergarten each week.
