W hen worlds collide — T e x a s D e s i g n W e e k Houston is a roster of celebrated designers and architects flown in from around the United States for salon talks, panel discussions, and book signings. And then there's the Round Top Spring Antiques + Design Show that surrounds and takes over the small town of Round Top, population 90. Polar opposites? Hardly. They occur less than a month apart — Round Top ends April 2, and TXDW Houston begins April 25 (through April 29). PaperCity tested the Round Top waters this spring with a micro-TXDW lineup of speakers at The Halles, but we needn't have worried. Round Top-goers embraced it. Stay tuned for expanded designer talks at The Halles during the October Round Top Antiques + Design Show. See the Texas Design Week Houston speaker lineup, beginning on page 76. The Top 25 Art Collectors in Texas — easy enough to compile. We write about art every month. Easy, it was not. There are degrees, subtleties, privacy. We narrowed the list to 75 collectors, then 50, finally 25. We may have missed a name. We may have included one that's a surprise. We have layers of reasons. Agree or not, it's an interesting read into the insular, very private world of collecting high-stakes art. Hope to see you at Texas Design Week Houston, April 25 through 29. Go to texasdesignweek.com for the complete schedule and to purchase tickets. If you're reading this in early April, the deadline to apply for the PaperCity Design Awards is Monday, April 4, at midnight. Go to papercitymag.com/designawards. Winning projects will be celebrated at the PaperCity Design Awards on Sunday, April 24, at The Post Oak Hotel. Holly Moore Editor in Chief HUNT SLONEM 22
