A s I write this, it's three days until the PaperCity Design Awards Houston and the week-long Texas Design Week Houston. It's been a crunch to get here. Then after, our Dallas editor Billy Fong and I are off to L.A. for Becca Cason Thrash's La L.A. Louvre, a three-day extravaganza of culture, art, and exquisite dinners at the art-filled home of Eugenio Lopez, founder of Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporaneo and Museo Jumex in Mexico City, who is widely considered to be one of the most important contemporary collectors in the world; the historic Holmby Hills estate of the Honorable Colleen Bell and Bradley Bell; Ronnie Haft and Andrew Nagel's Forever Estate; Liane and Richard Weintraub's Villa Tramonto; Bill and Maria Bell's Tadao Ando-designed Malibu home; and the homes of producer Michael Phillips; Lynda and Stewart Resnick; iconic art dealers Jeffrey Deitch, Larry Gagosian, and Shulamit Nazarian; and Artnews Top 200 collector Steve Tisch. And there's James Goldstein's John Lautner-designed masterpiece; the historic Hollywood home of Annie Kelly and photographer Tim Street-Porter, Villa Vallombrosa; and the Frederick R. Weisman Foundation, housed in the Weismans' former home, a magnificent Gordan B. Kaufmann- designed villa. Watch for follow-up reports in PaperCity Houston and Dallas.
