A ctress, singer, and songwriter Cynthia Erivo — one of the most celebrated performers of recent times — graced the red carpet at the BAFTA awards held at Royal Festival Hall in London in a stunning Louis Vuitton gown that had onlookers gushing. The Tony and Grammy Award winner wore a deep-bronze-toned metallic sleeveless dress embroidered with copper sequins. Using crochet and needle technique, the artisans at Vuitton worked for more than 1,000 hours, employing almost 20,000 sequins to produce the work of art in a stunning example of high craft and fashion converging to produce exquisite results. CYNTHIA ERIVO STUNS IN LV GOWN WHO'S GONNA SAVE YOUR SOUL? M ore than any major fashion name save Stella McCartney, Prada's every move for the past decade has focused on the environmental impact of fashion and the broader industries it supports. It's in this context that the house presents the Prada Frames symposium. The series of talks will be held at M+ in Hong Kong's West Kowloon Cultural District March 21 and 22, then in Milan, coinciding with Salone de Mobile, April 17 through 19. Curated by Formafantasma, a research and design studio renowned for paying close attention to the social and political implications of design and its use of materials, this year's theme is Materials in Flux and offers an examination of waste and the transformation materials make as they journey from object of desire through the "food chain" before ultimately becoming waste. A meeting of scholars, designers, architects, curators, scientists, anthropologists, activists, and legal and economic experts, the symposium offers a venue for the exploration of ideas and practices that make for a better future. O ooh. Aaah. Ohhh. That's right, it's "do the body right" time. A little time for self care. And, in this month's installment, we look at works from two of our favorite luxury brands, Dior and Chanel. Dior has created three scented body-care creations for its J'adore line: Les Adorables Body Cream and Shimmering Body Gel and Body Scrub. Akin to a holy trinity of scent, this triumvirate is nourishing, hydrating, and rich in natural extracts. Scrub, exfoliate, soothe … it's easy, and you know you deserve it. $80 - $100, at the Dior boutique, dior.com. Once cleansed, we turn our attention to Délices Pastel de Chanel. Chanel's Makeup Creation Studio presents five new creations: Fantasie de Chanel Illuminating Powder, Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick, Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow, Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Colour, and Rouge Coco Baume Hydrating Beautifying Tinted Lip Baum Buildable Colour. $45 – $80 each, at the Chanel boutique, chanel.com.
