Cometh Christian I t felt like we'd time-traveled to sunny Palm Springs circa the heady 1980s, but we had actually arrived at a cocktail party celebrating Neiman Marcus' immersive activation (which is apparently the new word for pop-up), "A La Piscine." A collaboration between beloved shoe designer Christian Louboutin and the luxury retailer, the exclusive collection at the NorthPark Center store introduced neon-colored footwear with Louboutin's iconic red lacquered sole, as well as handbags. Also in the collection — hand-woven T-shirts, limited-edition skateboards, and tumblers one could fill with an Aperol Spritz. M onsieur Louboutin, who established his business in the heart of Paris in 1992, made a rare personal appearance, greeting guests who swirled past Louboutin lifeguards, sipping palomas poolside at the Loubi Bar, or draping in lounge chairs beneath floor-to-ceiling palm trees. All this, on the first floor of the store.
