OBSESSIONS. DECORATION. SALIENT FACTS. S inger, rapper, and record producer Pharrell Williams has shot to fashion stardom in recent years as men's creative director for Louis Vuitton. Tapped to design a collection for Tiffany & Co., he created the Tiffany Titan, inspired by the mythological Poseidon's trident and expressing energy, power, and force. Sharp, thorn-like spears and smooth, curved links are studded with diamonds or glow unembellished in 18K yellow gold or more somber and punk in matte titanium. C alling all culture tourists: Later this fall, the art-centric Montrose neighborhood ushers in a chic new inhabitant, Hotel Saint Augustine. Bunkhouse — the Austin- based hospitality group that gave us Austin's hip Hotel San José and Hotel Saint Cecilia, to name but two — opens its first Houston hotel situated a stone's throw from The Menil Collection. Bunkhouse collaborated on the two-story, 71- room property spread across five small buildings with architecture firm Lake | Flato, with landscape design by Ten Eyck Landscape Architects. Known for its design sensibility coupled with a focus on music, Bunkhouse partnered with Brooklyn-based Post Company to design a listening room, intimate lobby bar, cloistered circular courtyard pool, and stylish restaurant, taking decorative inspiration from the modern, as well as the rare historic references found throughout the city. Speaking of the restaurant, they've wooed none other than chef Aaron Bludorn and Cherif Mbodji (Bludorn, Navy Blue, Bar Bludorn), to handle the with Hotel Saint Augustine all-day dining. The signature restaurant is a neighborhood bistro they're calling Perseid (pronounced per-see-id), named for the meteor shower that rains down each August. Perseid brings us a taste of Paris and Lyon, while the fare embraces the global influences and ingredients culled from every corner of our culturally diverse city.
