The space was left with a six-by-six corner space I wasn't sure what to do with. I thought about the way we live and what activities we want to do and came up with a game table and light by Muhly, an Austin design company started by a friend of mine, Ann Edgerton, and her business partner, Megan Carney. The chairs are another Round Top find by a vendor friend of mine out of Utah, Brett Millet. The space has become one of my favorites in the house. It's sculptural and beautiful when not in use, but super lovely for art projects, afternoon work, chess, and other board games with our son. We love it. Table for 10. The dining room is a very narrow space that requires a long, narrow table. It took a while to find one that could seat 10 people for a dinner party. Ultimately, I settled on a 19th-century pine French farmhouse table from Found. It's a funny story, because I'd styled for Found for years, and I can't tell you how many times I moved it around the shop. Instant atmosphere. Music is a huge part of our lives — it's a piece to the puzzle of creating an atmosphere, which I learned from the restaurant business. I would create the playlists for the clients, so it's the same with my house. My husband is a big audiophile, so when we have parties, he'll bust out his vintage reel-to-reel player, and that will be running on one of our kitchen shelves. When I'm cooking I listen to a lot of soul and blues. The kitchen's stainless worktops and drawers are from Ace Mart Restaurant Supply. Antique pine shelves with tabletop pieces from her time as a stylist. Amanda Medsger.
