Screaming Blast PAPERCITY PROMOTION W ho: Co-chairs C h r i s t y D o r a m u s and Melissa S m r e k a r welcomed nearly 300 guests in their most fashionable florals to Rosine Hall for A Celebration of Houses, Parties, & Gardens. What: The annual literary symposium and luncheon at Rosine Hall, A Writer's Garden, benefited the Women's Council of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Alison Kenworthy, founder of media network Homeworthy, served as mistress of ceremonies, while keynote speakers were Rebecca Gardner, whose first book, A Screaming Blast: Exceptional Entertaining, was recently published, and Blue Carreon, whose book The Gardens of The Hamptons came out this summer. Highlights: Gardner, a native Texan, detailed her earliest influences — everything from pink Cadillacs and frosted lipstick to "hot-rolled hair sprayed with Aquanet and a whiff of cigarette smoke, and the glamour of valet parking at Neiman Marcus." Kenworthy and Carreon swapped stories about peeking behind the hedges of Liz Lange's infamous Grey Gardens estate in East Hampton. During intermission, guests opened their party crackers and donned paper crowns and jewels while waiting to see if their lucky number was called to win an Oscar de la Renta shopping spree.
