We propose a sultry lounge. It's all about the backdrop: a dimly lit moody bar for seductive yet discreet hand-on-thigh-under-the-table moments in a velvet banquet. We texted every glamorous globetrotter we know for their recs, and below are their top 20. Thankfully, one is right here in Texas. We shopped, shopped … and shopped some more … and even had dinner with Thom Browne (see page 46) when he came to town for a made- to-measure trunk show event at Forty Five Ten. Sports: You might be seeing this and thinking, sports? Well, don't worry, this is our once-a-year tradition. We all love tennis: the celebrity athletes … the outfits that the players and spectators are wearing. The Dallas Open is scheduled for February 7 through 15 at the Ford Center at the Star (connected t o t h e w o r l d c o r p o r a t e headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys) in Frisco. If you enjoy an afternoon watching some of the hottest stars swing their rackets, then you won't be disappointed — this year's lineup includes Andy Roddick, Dallas hometown hero John Isner, and yes, John McEnroe. Social: January is a time to catch up on rest from the slew of fall fundraisers and holiday soirées. However, once February begins, it's time to get back in the saddle. In fact, we start out strong with an annual event we always look forward to: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) St. Valentine's Day Fashion Show & Luncheon on Wednesday, February 4, at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. Celebrate 42 years of fashion for a cure with co-chairs Megan and Keith Conlon, honorary chairs Ellen and Clayton Kershaw, and the advisory dream team of Nancy Gopez, Maggie Kipp, Melinda Knowles, Courtney Petit, and Samantha Wortley. It's a day when we come together with other fashionistas and corporate and community leaders to honor lives touched by blood cancers while launching spring fashion in the DFW area … Thursday, February 5, you'll find us at Dallas Children's Advocacy Center's Mahjong for a Mission with chair Laura Black for a day of philanthropy, mahj, and friends at Galleria Dallas, all to help improve the lives of abused children in Dallas county … Saturday, February 21, we'll head to an evening filled with white opera-length gloves: the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League Presentation Ball for the DSO debutantes, their escorts, families, and supporters of the DSO's education and community outreach program — and, in my case, people who enjoy watching the famed Texas dip. (I can watch the episode of House of Cards over and over again, where Robin Wright and Diane Lane face off over their Texas dips in a women's restroom). Fort Worth News: On Tuesday, January 13, the Cowtown iteration of our beloved Forty Five Ten opens for shopping, not to mention dining at its own Mirador restaurant. See more in our next issue.
