Design Awards And the Award Goes to …. By Billy Fong. Photography George Fiala. T hunderous a p p l a u s e a n d unbridled l a u g h t e r w e r e i n abundance at the recent Dallas-Fort Worth PaperCity Design Awards as winning projects were announced by legendary interior designer and bon vivant Hutton Wilkinson of Tony Duquette, Beverly Hills. The ballroom of Virgin Hotels Dallas was at capacity, filled with design-world insiders who had come to receive or congratulate all those awarded a big red Baccarat box. HN Capital Partner founder Vipin Nambiar (owner of Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, Virgin Hotels Dallas, W Dallas – Victory, and L.A.'s Hotel Per La, as well as a large swath of the Dallas Design District, among other properties) stepped up to the mic and affirmed his continued alliance and support of the Dallas interior design world. Nambiar came to the rescue of the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas by lending his 25,000-square- foot French Renaissance-style property at 2999 Turtle Creek Boulevard to serve as the 2024 and 2025 Dallas show house. H u t t o n Wi l k i n s o n — master of the iconic Tony Duquette estate Dawnbridge — was this year's master of ceremonies. Wilkinson heads up Hutton Wilkinson - Tony Duquette Studios, where he first apprenticed at the age 18 and remained until Duquette's death, when the company passed to him. Clients have included Alida Davison Rockefeller (yes, those Rockefellers); a palace complex in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; and offices for Twentieth Century Fox. During the Tony Duquette era, the duo created interiors for Norton Simon, Doris Duke, J. Paul Getty, and Elizabeth Arden. Post-awards, many stayed to enjoy another cocktail or two and discuss the recently wrapped Texas Design Week Dallas and the home-run success of the 2025 Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas.
