W h e n J u l i e Roberts introduced fine jewelry to her Elizabeth Anthony salon in 2014, it was with a single designer, Katherine Jetter. When Roberts revealed the multi- million-dollar refresh and expansion of her Uptown Park salon in mid-October, her stable of fine jewelry designers had grown to 30. Some of the 20-plus exclusive names in the mix may not be as well-known as Van Cleef, Winston, or Bulgari, but these are jewelry designers deep into their craft, producing spectacular jewels. Silvia Furmanovich's fantastically crafted creations utilize techniques such as marquetry, horse-mane weaving, bamboo, and lacquer; Cicada has a wide breadth of one-of-a- kind jewels; Bayco is noted for remarkable rare-colored gemstones; and Arunashi, based in Beverly Hills, glitters with red-carpet appeal. There are also jewels from Fernando Jorge, Chris Davies, Assael, Emily P. Wheeler, Nak Armstrong, Octavia Elizabeth, Van Gelder, and more. The overall refurbishing Celebrating 30 Years with a Glittering Fine Jewelry Salon Elizabeth Anthony Brings on the Bling By Shelby Hodge and expansion of the salon to 11,000 square feet was not only to make room for the posh expansion of the fine jewelry department, but also to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Elizabeth Anthony. Roberts, a former Miss Missouri, founded the boutique with a mere $500 in her pocket and only five dresses to sell. Three decades later, Elizabeth Anthony is a juggernaut in the arena of family- o w n e d f a s h i o n / jewelry businesses. For the expansion, she tapped lead architect Intexure Architects, which designed the original Uptown boutique, in collaboration with 3XS Designs, as well as interior design firm Ivy Hall, to transform the space, which was previously occupied by Ceron Hair Studio. Wi t h t h e p h y s i c a l expansion and new fine jewelry brands in-house, Roberts adds David Watson, recently retired after 39 years in Neiman Marcus' precious jewelry department, to the team, which is headed by Jennifer Graves, along with Blake Fulmer, the resident fine jewelry specialist.
