W hile we can't be sure Methodist Hospital's star heart surgeon, the late Michael DeBakey shopped at Louis Vuitton, he undoubtedly would have approved of an intimate cocktail party hosted at the beautifully revamped Louis Vuitton Galleria boutique, and given an approving nod to the well-heeled and philanthropically inclined who are passionate about one of the country's best hospitals for research, treatment and breakthroughs. The fĂȘte gathered supporters of the acclaimed Med Center institution, aptly named Methodist Society for Leading Medicine. A portion of the evening's shopping generously benefitted the game- changing cause: Houston Methodist Excellence for Leading Medicine Fund. Committed to the mission: Louis Vuitton store director Emily Paull, joined by Houston-area client relations manager Juliet Moths; Methodist top docs in the ob/gyn department Dr. Eric Haufrect and Dr. Waverly Peakes, with spouses Joyce Haufrect and Adam Peakes; past society chairs Estela and David Cockrell; and incoming Society leadership represented by co-chair Cabrina Owsley. Other notables: lovely Lynn Wyatt, Luba Bigman, Mary Ann and David McKeithan, Katherine Phelps, Kelley and Donald Young, Cecilia Harris, Kim Haufrect, Brooke Robertson, Randee and Everett Bernal, Christine Underwood, Lauren Cancienne, Lucia Clark, Blakely Griggs, Meg Murray, Leslie and Mark Hull, and Caroline Finkelstein. EXPRESSIONISTIC COMPOSITION What's an art fair without a high-voltage kickoff? Ligne Roset Houston owners Brittany and Adam Branscum (with newborn son Rhett James in arms) hosted an art-focused cocktail fĂȘte at their West Ave design store to kick off the Texas Contemporary Fair, which unfurled the following week at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Amongst Togo and Ploum perches, a crowd of 200-plus toasted Texas Contemporary founders Max Fishko and Jeffrey Wainhause, in from Manhattan for the night, who chatted about the Fair and activated the crowd. VIVID PALETTE Selmo Wines and Deep Eddy Vodka provided libations, while passed bites came from West Ave dining stop Del Frisco's Grille. A deft art touch amid the handsome contemporary furnishings was a display from the Branscums' personal collection, including a just-finished commission from Houston artist Paul Fleming, who worked for days before the bash to complete a sculpted constellation of hundreds of crimson resin components that spilled across several walls.
