The Beauty of I love to travel, so finding perfect moments to escape from working hard so I can play hard requires a few festive holidays to intervene. This year, I traded a trip to Miami Art Basel for Thanksgiving weekend skiing with my family in Bachelor Gulch — why not get the winter season started with fresh powder, toasty fires and decadent s'mores. Skiing from the top of a mountain with no keyboard in sight is pure escapism. For the New Year festivities, my husband and I decided to take a last-minute trip to Hong Kong — far away in the Far East, where hunting for Oriental treasures takes one's mind off the next pending deadline. However, searching for unique stories to share with you is what I love to do. So this month … We visit the impeccable home of art consultant Cindy Schwartz, cue the oxford shoe and "Step into the Office of Angela Scott," our Style DNA feature. We're the media sponsor for DIFFA/Dallas, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of its wildly successful gala, this year titled "House of DIFFA No. 25"; read our special section for the full scoop. And, visit our online social calendar for event listings on our newly minted papercitymag.com site — but do make note of our Hot Tickets, and read "Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves." Don't forget, French conceptual artist Loris Gréaud arrives in Dallas this month, lauded as quite the affaire française; the exhibition "The Unplayed Notes Museum" opens at the Dallas Contemporary January 18 (through March 21). If you missed our November interview with Mr. Gréaud, you can read it on papercitymag.com. The New Year brings thoughtful reflection, resolution and rejuvenation — and after my inspiring trip, I am refreshed, recharged and ready to conquer 2015. Wishing you a fortuitous and prosperous New Year! Linden Wilson I t's official: The McKinney Avenue Contemporary will be on the move in Spring 2016. Its first 20 years were spent at its namesake location, 3120 McKinney, a former factory for Dr. Billy Potts' Longhorn Leather that was converted two decades ago by architects Steve Lawson and Truett James into a cool Yves Klein-blue-painted spatial canvas for cutting- edge exhibitions and performances. Like the extraordinary move and rebranding of the Dallas Contemporary, the new MAC will rise in about 18 months in a gentrifying 'hood that's become the next arts Mecca, thanks to RE Gallery, dealer James Cope and the Bowdon Foundation's just announced arts center. Cue the Cedars. Patron/developer/MAC co-founder Claude Albritton III has just inked the deal for a prime 2.16 acres on 1601 South Ervay, across from Heritage Village and east of Southside Lamar. The campus encompasses five buildings, in a complex that was once Ben Griffin Ford. The MAC will occupy one of the brick fortress-like dealership structures. Also expect commercial galleries, live theater, a sculpture garden, coffeehouse, eatery, wine and beer garden, and the preservation of the Pastime Tavern. Meanwhile, the current MAC continues programming at its McKinney home through fall 2015. Coming attraction: The Dallas Medianale, presented by the Video Association of Dallas, opens Friday, January 9 (through March 7). Catherine D. First, Jessica Barouche introduced us to the finer French things in life with her Dallas-based consulting company, BeFrnch. Now la jolie fille has taken it to the next level with OuiPlease, a subscription service that delivers luxurious fashion, beauty and home goodies straight to your door every two months. The first parcel, called Paris, I Miss You, shipped in December and included Sothys skincare products, a 1951 Maison Française clutch, Marlette cookie mix and a Popup Paris candle. Sign up, and brands including Christian Lacroix, Atelier Cologne, Mineroche and Ku de Coeur will find their way to you, with each box brimming with products representing different regions in France. Just in time for Valentine's Day, the next delivery promises to conjure a romantic trip to Normandy. "The way we shop in France is completely different than in the U.S. — the process of selecting a product is drawn out," Barouche says. "We walk in the store, we touch, smell, leave, then come back to purchase. In the U.S., everyone is very online-oriented. OuiPlease is a great combination of these two cultures. You can order online, but we take the time to curate the brands that are included, and each customer has a special moment when they open their luxury parcel." Parfait! Single parcel $175, month-to-month $150, annual prepaid membership $650, at ouiplease.com. The holiday season was wonderful, but we are excited to move into 2015. Hopefully everyone has made their New Year's resolutions, and they are holding steady. We closed out 2014 with the launch of papercitymag.com, and it is thriving, gaining unique visits every day. Be sure to check back daily for fresh content covering home design, fashion, beauty art, people and social. Hopefully you saw the chic Chanel online ads last month and the beautiful Cartier ads this month. Both luxury brands bought out the ad spaces in the entire website for a month. As for my ad sales team, we are in full gear, signing new advertisers daily. New national brands for 2015 are farfetch. com and MaxMara, with more to come. If you aren't familiar with farfetch.com, you need to be. In a brilliant strategy, Farfetch invites the chicest boutiques in the universe to be part of the Farfetch world — with Forty Five Ten the exclusive for Dallas. You can literally shop from sea to sea. Gabrielle de Papp, a former Neiman Marcus public relations exec, is senior VP, brand and business development, North America.
