24 FASHION FORCE BRIAN BOLKE BRINGS FORTY FIVE TEN TO HOUSTON, AND THE OPENING AT RIVER OAKS DISTRICT HAS THE COOL CROWD CELEBRATING. By Shelby Hodge. Photography Jenny Antill Clifton. O n a night when the city was hopping with retail parties, none could compete with the of-the-second vibe emanating from River Oaks District's newest hot spot, Forty Five Ten. Brian Bolke — president and co-founder of the luxe women's, men's and home boutique — breezed into Houston to celebrate the opening of his new Houston store, just days after opening a new four-story Dallas flagship. Bolke, along with a coterie of design and fashion stars, lit up the night. Consider the fashion world's favorite artist Donald Robertson, who was in from New York to sketch his cheeky illustrations on candles from The Starling Project, a Forty Five Ten exclusive benefitting UNICEF. Add to the mix Dallas' colorful DJ Lucy Wrubel in charge of party sounds, blogging sensation Tina Craig, aka Bag Snob, and the Forty Five Ten power team — Nick Wooster and Taylor Tomasi Hill, among them. Luscious lips, imagined in red balloons, danced over- head — a play on artist Robertson's artwork. The perfect night allowed the overflow to spill out onto the courtyard, where the champagne flowed as freely as the Casa Dragones Joven tequila, audaciously served in flutes. Basking in praise for the new store was architect David Droese, who has de- signed all of Bolke's stores, with his wife Suzanne Droese, Dallas's PR power house. Another Dallasite making the scene, Alberto Lombardi owner of River Oaks Districts' Toulouse and Taverna restaurants, which provided the night's fare. Post-opening gala, several dozen made their way to the terrace room at Le Colonial, dining among the twinkling lights while visions of McQueen danced in their heads.
