It led off with pop-inspired Liz and Maurice Treviño, showcased at Austin's Bale Creek Allen Gallery, followed by abstract painter Raychael Stine at Barry Whistler Gallery during Dallas Art Fair. Deasil then segued into a solo in Houston for former Core Fellow Robyn O'Neil's dystopian drawings, including many never-before-seen works (through May 20). The venue for the O'Neil show is brilliantly sited at the BBVA Compass River Oaks Bank Tower, 2001 Kirby Drive, Suite 1011 (10th floor). On Sunday, May 6, "Square Dance" concludes in San Antonio, presenting CAMH-exhibited Cruz Ortiz at the artist's Snake Hawk Press for one night only. Ortiz's witty, graphic- inspired work is mounted with a side of Tex-Mex music: legendary Texas accordionist and five-time Grammy winner Flaco Jimenéz, paired with Grammy-winning Los TexManiacs.
