Cue Dos Arbolitos, a new events center and beacon for a restorative communing with nature, situated within a gated community in New Ulm. The 39-acre sylvan swath of wooded walking trails, gentle lakes, and an orchard is understated, and supremely tranquil — just the p l a c e t o soothe the jangled nerves of city-dwellers and those who need a digital detox. With an event barn and towering oaks, Dos Arbolitos is the brainchild of Houston attorneys Patricia and Randel Young. The couple are already planning gatherings for Stages Repertory Theatre (Randel is a board member and on the executive committee). As such, Dos Arbolitos allies with global wellness concepts, including the latest research into the benefi ts of forest bathing — tuning into the presence of trees, melding nature and mindfulness. Owners Jeanine Holland and Julie Rhyne deliver their gourmet goods inside the loop with the same tempting repertoire: more than 350 menu items, from Asian pork rib eye to pasta rustica and shepherd's pie. Pick up charming appetizers for holiday cocktailing: brie en croute with pecan praline sauce, maple jalapeño pinwheels, and prosciutto and fi g palmiers.
