The new two-story restaurant, Queso Beso, moves into a historic building that overlooks the 30-foot-tall Eye sculpture at 1525 Main Street. This new spot is a colorful place with vinyl diner chairs, piñatas, twinkling lights, and a large enclosed patio. It joins other Headington restaurants in the area including Americano, CBD Provisions, and Mirador. These are neighbors anyone can love. Read more at BAR NONE TIMELESS STYLE A new bar in the Design District is building off the success of The Charles restaurant. Bar Charles opened in a 1,700-square-foot space at the backside of the restaurant at 1632 Market Center Boulevard, with entry through the back alley. This new spot is anything but a wallfl ower. "I would describe Bar Charles as turned up," says owner Chas Martin. "Everything from the design to the music to the champagne selection is maximized." In keeping with its ethos, Bar Charles hours are listed as 4 pm to "whenever." Read more at Angel Ramos met entrepreneur Stephen Schweickart when they played baseball together at Liberty University. They reunited after Schweickart sold his tech company to launch 18th Amendment, a menswear brand that draws its inspiration from a unique source. "I grew up in Brooklyn, and I've always been fascinated with the Prohibition and speakeasy era in America, which all started with the 18th Amendment," Ramos tells PaperCity's Billy Fong. The chic downtown hotel is teaming up with a pasty chef who's worked alongside Charlie Trotter and Stephan Pyles, among others. Katherine Clapner's Dude, Sweet Chocolate opened at 1604 Main Street in a pop-up partnership with The Joule, in a spot formerly occupied by clothing boutique Traffi c Los Angeles. Clapner, whose original shop is in the Bishop Arts District, tells PaperCity, "We've never stepped out of our comfort zone like this. But I know the area well.
