26 ILLUSTRATING THE POINT BY LISA COLLINS SHADDOCK. PHOTOGRAPHY JONATHAN ZIZZO. S eeing celebrated interiors through the eyes of illustrator Jeremiah Goodman, who passed away in 2017, means seeing them colored with poetic romance. The same is true of Goodman's longtime friend and collaborator, Dean Rhys-Morgan. The ever-so-elegant editor, writer, and stylist kicked off Texas Design Week on a high note with his talk at Ralph Lauren in Highland Park Village, followed by an exhibition and sale of Goodman's illustrations and a book signing of the monograph he helped pen, Jeremiah: Inspired Interiors (PowerHouse Books). Goodman's original paintings, as well as signed and numbered giclée prints, hung as they might in a London townhouse throughout the second floor of the elegant Ralph Lauren boutique. Depictions of the rooms of Cecil Beaton, Bill Blass, the Reagans, Betsy Bloomingdale, Diana Vreeland ,and a host of others were alongside Goodman's drawing desk and the very paintbrushes he used, flown in from NYC where Goodman had his studio. Rhys-Morgan became acquainted with all these things during the nine years he spent working with Goodman to compile the book. "Jeremiah viewed domestic spaces as a form of interiography," Rhys-Morgan explained to the group, "a reflection of who we are at a particular point in time."
