letter editor H ello, 2021. I swiped right months ago when I found you. At long last, you are here. I want to take carefree walks on an exotic beach with you. Drink piña coladas, get caught in the rain, and listen to The Go-Go's. I have oh-so many expectations, but I promise to keep the bar low. I won't be needy and begging for constant embraces. Perhaps just an air-kiss or two until we find ourselves at our new normal — which might be our new Roaring '20s, as some have speculated. The issue you have in front of you is filled with stories to inspire and excite you for the year ahead. I'm eagerly awaiting the opening of the Yoshitomo Nara exhibition at the Dallas Contemporary on January 30. I first discovered this artist through his playful and slightly deranged images of children and animals at the seminal "Superflat" exhibition at LA MOCA's Gallery at the Pacific Design Center in 2001. The ashtray I purchased that day in the gift shop still sits proudly on my coffee table. Check out Rebecca Sherman's gorgeous feature on the high-rise home of Dr. Sylvia Hargrave and her husband, Magnus Wetterstrand at the W Residences, beginning on page 56. The eye surgeon was left in the lurch when her previous designer moved away; on a visit to Dallas' Design District, she had a serendipitous meeting with design star Joshua Rice. Together they created a home that highlights an enviable art collection. The muted tones create a warm and wondrous space that leaves me yearning to redecorate. Eataly — the food emporium with locations in L.A., New York City, Boston, Chicago, and Las Vegas — has officially opened an outpost in Dallas. Caitlin Clark gives us a glimpse inside the new NorthPark Center space. Head over and pick up a pasta kit (it's become my go- to when I can't find anything in my pantry) and some prosciutto for date night. I didn't pen my annual Best Dressed List for 2020, as it was bereft with occasions to dress up. No glorious gowns or even an occasional turban to catch my eye. However, on some Zoom calls, I did spy some who looked great from the waist up. NBC5 anchor Meredith Land always looked chic as she gave us daily updates, generally from the remote setup at her home. J'adore that she texted me that often below that Veronica Beard jacket was simply a pair of boxers. Others I crossed paths with in the past few months who made me smile with their sartorial elegance included Christy Berry, Georgina Hartland, Jonika Nix, Jordan Jones, Melinda Knowles, and Ceron. I feel like everyone deserves an honorable mention if they simply slipped on a pair of Blahniks with their La Perla pajamas to conquer the day. I declare now that 2021 shall be all about the letter E. I want to encourage everyone to be ebullient. Be enlightened. Be empathetic. Be exquisite. Be ecstatic.
