MODERN DAY LOOM A brash Rug Gallery has opened a new 3 , 2 0 0 - s q u a r e - f o o t showroom next door to its current location to house its growing collection of contemporary rugs, Abrash Modern. The new Modern designs are handmade in traditional materials such as wool and silk, as well as in a myriad of yarns, including sustainable materials spun from bamboo and banana fibers — the same materials used in Nepal for centuries. The new showroom also offers bespoke service for custom rugs in any size, color, or texture. Abrash was founded in 1999 by Alireza Talebi and Fara Kayone, a husband-and-wife duo who scour the globe for fine antique rugs, including Persian and Oushak. Rebecca Sherman L eave it to boundary- pushing, color- obsessed designer Kelly Wearstler to do something unexpected. Her new palette of sun- soaked hues with Farrow & Ball is the first time a designer outside of the company has created a collection for the storied English paint brand, which marks its 75th anniversary this year. Wearstler has used Farrow TAR JOINS DOWN PIPE & Ball's sumptuous paints in her projects for more than two decades, and she designed the eight hues of The California Collection to work within the brand's wider range of colors, or on their own. Wearstler was inspired by the muted California landscape for her palette, which includes such evocative tones as Citrona, Hazy, Faded Terracotta, Tar, Sand, and Salt.
