ART NOTES M ove over, Museum of Ice Cream and Sweet Tooth Hotel. In today's world of art as spectacle, rare is the stately museum that speaks the language of scholars and trades in the timeless. Cue Southern Methodist University's venerable Meadows Museum, which marks a milestone anniversary this spring: 20 years in its handsome red-brick colonnaded structure, a paean to classical architecture designed by Chicago-based Hammond Beeby Rupert Ainge Since its unveiling i n 2 0 0 1 , t h i s 66,000-square-foot Georgian jewel box has honed a singular focus that spans half a millennia of Spanish art, with holdings touted as the best outside t h e I b e r i a n P e n i n s u l a . Now on view, dual exhibitions at the Meadows showcase iconic works as well as casting a wider net to highlight other notable collections housed campus-wide.
