P ierre Frey, the iconic 86-year-old Parisian textile house, has collaborated with American design impresario Ken Fulk on a collection of extravagant and theatrical wallpapers, fabrics, and carpets. Much like everything Fulk touches from his San Francisco design studio, The Magic Factory, his new collection is inspired by the fantastical works of Fornasetti, Tony Duquette, and Salvador Dalí. With a wink and a nod, The Surreal World collection celebrates Fulk's favorite things, from Designer Dogs based on portrait sketches of the canines that frequent his studio to Surrealist Ball & Banquet scenes that reference the masquerade balls organized by Dalí in 1941; Ken's Kaleidoscope, inspired by Fulk's exuberant flower arrangements; and Stoned Romans, which echo the portraits of Roman emperors that hang on Fulk's walls. His mind works in mysterious and beautiful ways. Ken Fulk X Pierre Frey, to the trade at Culp Associates, Decorative Center Houston, 5120 Woodway Dr., pierrefrey.com.
