PAPERCITY ADVERTORIAL t was a black (tie) and white affair at the second annual Impact Dallas Gala. Hosted at The Thompson Hotel by the Dallas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Architecture and Design Foundation, the event drew more than 375 guests, who raised funds to impact the next generation of community leaders. The gala also celebrated the role design plays in connecting communities and improving peoples' lives. This year's co-chairs were community activist Macey Davis and architect Dan Noble, president and CEO of HKS, Inc. Guests from sectors including philanthropy, design, art, architecture, development and the community mixed and mingled over passed hors d'oeuvres, seated dinner, and entertainment from the band Time Machine. As a nod to its design roots, the event also featured immersive art experiences, and the presentation of two esteemed awards. The AD EX Community Cornerstone Award, designed by Brad Oldham Studio, recognizes a non-architect entity for outstanding contributions to shaping environments and building community. This year, the honor went to Parks for Downtown Dallas for exemplifying" "architecture's highest calling as a service to the public, weaving the urban fabric through design for the benefit of the city. The honoree and finalists Bonton Farms and Texas Trees Foundation were awarded $1,500 each to help advance their organizational missions. The gala also bestowed AIA Dallas' Lifetime Achievement Award on Betsy del Monte for her work creating the Dallas Green Code, advocating for sustainable policy at the State of Texas, serving as AIA's representative to the Global Climate Action Summit, and establishing the Graduate Program in Sustainability at SMU. The Architecture and Design Foundation fosters access to architecture and design for all, increasing public awareness about how design impacts human lives.
