OUR FASHION SHOOT LOCATION R eligious iconography in design and fashion is a form of artistic expression that can cut deep. From scapulars, symbols of stigmata, and the iconography of cloistered nuns and monks to the lull of Evensong and Gregorian chants, religious fervor forever holds us in its thrall. and F aith and devotion take us to the 17th- century Ex-Convento Desierto de los Leones in the south of Mexico City as the backdrop for our shoot. The monastery's first stone was laid on January 23, 1606; its name, Desierto de Nuestra Señora del Carmen de los Montes de Santa Fe, was (thankfully) later shortened. It was a monastery for Los Carmelitas Descalzos for almost 200 years, later served as a military base, then was abandoned, becoming a forest reserve and finally, in 1917, a national park. A place of history, culture, and stark beauty, this is where our fashion journey begins. Letitia Huckaby's Sister Jean from her "Bayou Baroque" series, through Talley Dunn Gallery.
