Moschino's Greatest Hits at The Conservatory Save the Date G et ready, Dallas fashion squad. Moschino is giving us some Italian love at The Conservatory. In the beguiling court of fashion, we might dub the late Franco Moschino the court jester, known for his witty and irreverent collections. He once incorporated onto a garment an image of a television tuned to Channel No. 5 — a tongue-in-chic reference to Chanel No. 5. This sparked a lawsuit from Chanel, but also solidified his reputation as a disruptor. After his death in 1994, other creative directors carried the torch. The best-known, Jeremy Scott (who channeled Franco from 2013 through 2023), was perhaps the most on brand. He paraded looks down his runway that seemed to be from McDonald's — his riff on the McD logo for the M in Moschino. We immediately coveted the handbag that looked like a super-size French- fries container. Recently, the powers that be at Moschino found themselves in need of someone to lead the march. Davide Renne, after 20 years at Gucci, had been appointed creative director in 2023 but tragically died soon afterwards. They pivoted and installed Adrian Appiolaza as the new head design talent. Given there was no time for Appiolaza to create for the upcoming season, they revisited and reimagined some of Moschino's greatest moments for the Spring 2024 runway, titled 40 Years of Love. The Conservatory — the bastion of fashion on the second floor between Chanel and Park House in Highland Park Village — has partnered with Moschino as the only U.S. location of a special installation of what we can only call a collectible collection. In addition to the site-specific shop, which is open April 5 through 27, The Conservatory unveils Bar Moschino, serving up Italian aperitivo from 3 to 6 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, with tunes by DJ Lucy Wrubel.
