HALLES WHAT'S ON TAP Buzz: Year-Round Shopping + Party Palace Bask in the main pavilion's air-conditioned splendor, thanks to a new five-ton AC (and heating) system. Budget Blinds out of Giddings — your go-to for blinds in Central Texas, including most of the tony properties in Round Top and environs — is installing a top-of-the-line motorized shade system that can lower the shades to keep the cool air in. If you're looking for a Round Top retreat, show time or anytime, check into the handsome Halles Casitas 3D-printed by Houston-founded Hive3D Builders. Recommended: the 2/2 casita now outfitted by Double D Ranch in a vintage-Western vibe meets cool-contemporary home-design, including Texas-appropriate horned furniture. Major news: About half of The Halles vendors will be open Saturdays, starting this holiday season. If a vendor cannot be there, Halles staff will open doors, create virtual tours with the owners, coordinate cocktails, and take orders. Stay tuned: The Halles will collaborate with a few other in-demand vendors too, aligning with the Round Top's goal of becoming a year-round destination, thus supporting retail, restaurants, and lodging beyond the thrice yearly Antiques & Design Shows. Party time: Want to add a side of country to your next fête? Book The Halles for your 150-seated to 300-person venue for unforgettable receptions, rehearsal dinners, birthdays, and other bashes. The venue boasts a private JennAir kitchen, gym, and, launching this show, a pair of Cowboy Pools. Kick your boots off, grab a cool one, and stay awhile. Also on the bucolic horizon, The Halles has partnered with Oakbones — the late, beloved Cisco Pinedo's last creative vision for a large, elaborate, and elegant property. Oakbones' venue is expected to open this November. In a convivial collaboration typical of Round Top, The Halles and Oakbones will share clients and offer reciprocal perks: When renting at The Halles Casitas, guests will have access to day-passes at Oakbones pool and game-room lounge (contact Roger Perez, mac2237.rp@gmail.com). Fashionable Fields Including Pop-Ups This fall, The Halles once again becomes an official HQ for It-girls. Notable are two returning bijoux ladies: Heather Benjamin nomadic jewelry and Covet Aspen modern jewelry. Then there's one of Texas' most celebrated new brands: Lizzy Chesnut Bentley's City Boots for the urbane cowgirl. Rounding out the fashion-forward scene are Round Top-tested Nashville Makers, starring custom millinery by A. Botts Willis and her merry band, including Rank & Sugar's vintage, handcrafted Army apparel, a brand on a mission; and Tonya Hawkes artistic handbags and home goods. Pata Lifestyle handbags, handmade in Argentina, give back to early breast cancer detection. Discover Mamadou of Dukere Imports' African artifacts and trade beads to make a bold global fashion (and home design) statement. Then shop unisex, eco-conscious clothing by LOTTE.99. Let's Talk Art The art energy is humming, beginning with a mammoth bunny in sparkly glass mosaic installed near the Round Top Coffee Shop, where he makes a bold statement along Texas Highway 237. The artist is Hunt Slonem, who's also revered for his collection of dramatically restored Gilded Age mansions. Slonem is showcased at Laura Rathe Fine Art in Halle 4 in an impressive exhibition, "Hunt Slonem: Larger Than Life," and will be guest of honor at the Designer Dinner by A Fare Extraordinaire on Monday, October 14. Then voyage to an epic installation adjoining the Country Sunshine Patio: Burning Man veteran artist/ builder John Walker's 10-by-40-foot boat, Journey, channels a traditional Egyptian felucca then adds light projections and music. It's all in the family with Round Top-area photographer Jordan Geibel presenting her latest series, featuring sourced vintage photos that are hand-embellished with thread, beads, and other collage elements. Geibel's mom, Holland Geibel, and partner Gary Griffin debut their Vesper Art Collective. Also check out Bug In The Box taxidermy art, an ode to the natural world via sustainably sourced specimens — perfect to start your cabinet of curiosities; and Sevy Marie Art's joyful abstraction. Haley Bowen's lyrical female- empowered nude paintings return. Do more art gazing at photographer Fatima Donaldson's gallery, a space she shares with Gio Art Studio's Denise Giordano (of the intuitive fumage/smoke work). Don't leave without a cheeky canvas or commission from Bachman + Petrie's pop art emporium. Modern Muse's collage queen Lizzie Darwin and Nicholas Greenbury's talismanic objects from ethically sourced crystals and bones round out the art action. Happening at The Halles Calendar these dates: Monday, October 14, 4:30 – 6 pm, book signing of The Spirited Homes of Hunt Slonem, and Butterflies; 6 – 9 pm, PaperCity Designer Dinner by A Fare Extraordinaire, "Fall Feast," honoring artist and preservationist Hunt Slonem (tickets $225) | Friday, October 18, 4 pm, preview films that will be presented at Round Top Film Festival come November | Saturday, October 19, 5 – 9 pm, Late-Night Luxury elevated pop-up bazaar with jewelry, custom-made fashion, accessories, and fashion show emceed by Courtney Zavala, sponsored by Linda Plant, Martha Turner Sotheby's International Realty.
