Green bouclé chairs flanking the fireplace create an intimate spot for cocktails when it's just the couple, while '70s-inspired swivel chairs turn to follow the conversation during larger gatherings. The g l a m o r o u s c r y s t a l chandelier — an original piece the homeowners kept — plays off the dining room's more streamlined look. The formal living room was designed with entertaining in mind, featuring a circular seating arrangement t h a t e n c o u r a g e s conversation and a showstopping onyx bar glimpsed through an arched opening. Yates anchored the space with a custom octagonal rug and Christophe Delcourt's curvaceous sofas, which integrate built-in tables. "It felt right to create a room where people can sit and talk, not just pass through," he says. Eager to preserve the features they loved, the clients kept the room's original coffered ceiling and crystal chandelier intact. "A square shape is unusual for a chandelier, and it worked beautifully with the architecture," Yates says. A finely crafted chest, handmade in Mexico City by Alfonso Marina, flanks the stone fireplace and adds another layer of artistry. The husband's office, which opens onto a secluded patio, is a wood-paneled retreat with custom cabinetry and handsome furnishings. Inside, the cabinet doors reveal vibrant green lacquer — a nod to the signature color of his tech firm. As a cigar aficionado, he wanted to showcase a custom humidor he already owned, so the cabinetmaker built it into the shelving, creating a space he often shares with friends and clients who drop by for a smoke.
