THE NO-HOLDS-BARRED NUPTIALS OF THREE LOCAL COUPLES, WHERE FABULOUS WALKED THE AISLES WITH FUN — FROM THE BARREN, STUNNING LANDSCAPE OF MARFA AND A GORGEOUS HOUSTON MANSION TURNED HOTEL TO THE DOWNTOWN HOUSTON SKYLINE AS BACKDROP. IT WAS A WHIRL OF BESPOKE POOCHES IN PONCHOS, ROCKS AND GEODES, WEDDING HASHTAGS, VINTAGE STAMPS AND GETAWAY CARS, GORGEOUS GOWNS AND WEDDING JEWELS — PROVING THAT WHEN IT COMES TO THE BIG DAY, IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS. SCENES FROM A WEDDING BY MEGAN PRUITT WINDER The Couple: MICHELLE FULLER-WIGG, & TYLER MARKS • The bride's engagement ring is a 1940s estate piece from Queen of Heirs. • The couple's cousins and nephew were attendants, along with their three dogs. The pooches wore ponchos; for the reception, they changed into indigo tutus and a bow tie, all made by the bride's mother. • The bride designed a cape to accompany her ceremony gown, ordered fabric from Mood and had A Beautiful U produce the piece. • The wedding hashtag was #Marksfa — a combination of the couple's last name (Marks) and the wedding destination (Marfa). • The groom sent a Spotify playlist for guests to enjoy on their travels to the wedding. • The groom's parents brought hay bales for ceremony seating; his mom made dip-dyed covers for them. • The groom's parents made a metal structure and the bride's family dyed and macraméd a fabric to create the backdrop for the ceremony. • Topo Chicos in a vintage trough kept guests refreshed during the ceremony. • The groom's parents brought their vintage Serro Scotty camper for the bride's pre-ceremony hiding spot. • The groom designed welcome bags for the guests, filled with a schedule and map of Marfa, tin camp mugs, saltwater taffy from La King's Confectionery in Galveston (the city where the bride was born) and Green Chili Peanut Brittle from Leslie Candy Co in Clovis, New Mexico (where the groom was born). • The bride thrifted 300 vases for the flowers and succulents in the months before the wedding. The couple decorated with geodes and agates. • The bride's father and stepmother (local Galveston artists) made ceramic-and- leather napkins rings for each place setting. • The place-card holders also served as favors: rough geodes, which guests were told to take outside to a station set up for cracking them open. • The couple bought Mexican blankets to use throughout the weekend for decoration, as well as around the fire pits at the reception. • Signature cocktails: Jude's Jammy Gin and The Desert Mule. • For the reception book, guests snapped pics with Instax cameras, then used washi tape to display them in the book and write notes to the happy couple. • The couple entered the reception to "Beginner's Luck" by The Eels. • The first dance was to "You Ain't Alone" by Alabama Shakes. • Honeymoon: Hotel Escondido (outside of Puerto Escondido, Mexico). DIVINE DETAILS Michelle & Tyler Marks IN THE BEGINNING: The bride was working as a stylist at J. Crew in the Galleria when the groom stopped in on his lunch break. She followed him to the men's shop, pretended she knew what he was talking about and ordered him some shirts. After that, she started referring to him as "my future boyfriend Tyler Marks" around work. He came back a couple of times, and one day when she wasn't there, a coworker friend gave him her number. Their first date was at Zelko Bistro. PROPOSAL: The couple's three dogs wore cute signs around their necks that told her to go into the dining room. The groom was on one knee with wildflowers everywhere and a banner that said "Will you marry me?" The two headed off on a surprise weekend to one of their favorite hotels, San José in Austin. WEDDING DATE: April 26, 2014. INVITATIONS: Designed by the couple's friend, Camille Domangue, letterpressed by Workhouse Prints and sent using vintage stamps.
