ART + DECORATION A n innovative new e-commerce site is adding a historic element to the online art marketplace. Fineartestates.com was founded last November by respected Dallas gallerist Kevin Vogel, who brings five decades of knowledge to his new endeavor. His father established Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden in 1954; the younger Vogel began working there in 1974 and has been running the space with his wife, Cheryl, for more than 30 years. Vogel got the idea for his website after the death of an artist friend five years ago, when her family approached him about selling the contents of her California studio. Flash forward, and fineartestates.com was born. The site specializes in selling historic, secondary-market paintings, sculpture, drawings, and photography. It serves as an online broker for an artist's estate or individuals divesting themselves of collections or specific artworks. (Contemporary artists are not in the mix.) A new app even makes it possible for the buyer to check out how the prospective artwork will look on his or her wall. A recent search of the site yielded up a number of treasures, including works by Everett Spruce, Myron Wood, Barney Delabano, Valton Tyler, and Vogel's own father Donald S. Vogel.
