MAKING MERRY! L ouis Vuitton has r e i n v e n t e d t h e Christmas tree, as evidenced by a peek at its flagship store windows and decorations. The façade of the Place Vendôme LV store is lit with a weeping willow, and outside the store in Beijing, monumental Louis Vuitton ornaments are stacked in the shape of a pine. Decorative windows at stores worldwide, including the Dallas Vuitton store in NorthPark Center, make a fantastical play on trees, with bonsais, cacti, and palms trimmed with cheery Louis Vuitton ornaments. There are Arclight sneaker ornaments, a n d t h o s e re s e m b l i n g the LV Twist and Petite Malle bags. R are are those who aren't hoping for a little blue box from Tiffany & Co. under the tree. Then, of course, there are those Fifth Avenue flagship holiday windows that draw crowds for the whimsy that beams from behind the glass. Gene Moore (renowned former artistic director for Tiffany & Co., who joined the company in the 1950s and was famous for his inspired window dressing) was muse for this year's fantasy world. A chrome drawing model — our holiday hero, if you will — takes command, having made his first Tiffany & Co. appearance in Moore's 1960s windows. There's product aplenty, from the Tiffany Paper Flowers and HardWear collections to the timeless Tiffany T and Victoria pieces. We suggest Santa snag chic ornaments in walnut and sterling silver; the sterling silver greenhouse and sterling flower pots from chief artistic director R e e d K r a k o f f 's cheeky Everyday Objects collection; or the new Tiffany x Globe-Trotter vanity case — in Tiffany Blue, naturally.
