A new Asian lounge on Preston Road hopes to change that with a dash of authenticity. First-time restaurateur Jia Huang's new spot, Jia Modern Cuisine, represents a lifelong dream. Huang grew up in China, helping her father cook in the family's small restaurant, and after stints working at Lombardi Family Concepts, she fi nally has a place of her own. Dickies Arena (named after the work-clothing brand) opens as a gleaming showcase for all of North Texas. While this new 14,000-seat venue was built in part to host Fort Worth's annual rodeo, this is anything but a place for cowboys and cattle. Fort Worth billionaire Ed Bass wouldn't stand for anything but the best. So Bass, the head of Event Facilities Fort Worth, which partnered with the city on the new building, pushed for a custom acoustic ceiling more typical of small concert halls. And terrazzo fl oors.
