Rhapsody in Bleu for Menil Contemporaries Chair Kelly Hamman CANVASSED BY MATTHEW RAMIREZ. PHOTOGRAPHY JENNY ANTILL, MICHELLE WATSON/CATCHLIGHT GROUP. T he second night of The Menil Collection's three-day silver-anniversary extravaganza was a cool, avant-garde soirée for the 30-something art-centric set. The Menil Contemporaries' Bleu Électrique bash was inspired by the museum's otherworldly Yves Klein painting Requiem, a blue-hued work from 1960 that electrified the gala's design. Chair couples Linsay and Jeremy Radcliffe, Isabel and Danny David, and Kelly and Russell Hamman welcomed more than 500 for a live performance by Urban Souls Dance Company inside an azure tent devised by Houston creative Brooke Stroud and carried forth by fête masters Bergner & Johnson. DJ Kalkutta spun tunes, and more than $115,000 was raised — another milestone in a weekend of record-level fund-raising for The Menil Collection. The blue men (and women): the Menil's Josef Helfenstein and Vance Muse; painter Howard Sherman; artist Angelbert Metoyer, in from the Netherlands, with patrons Tatiana and Craig Massey; PaperCity's Kate Stukenberg with husband Will; Sarah Bray, dishing with Marcy de Luna; the Asia Society's John Bradshaw Jr.; Montague; Katherine and Mark Yzaguirre; Leslie and Brad Hull; Claire Cormier Thielke and Rick Thielke; Catherine and Dean Giuffre; Tootsies' Katie Fady Armanious and Chris Flaherty Goins with gallerist Josh Pazda; Lindley and Jason Ryan McCord Arnoldy; Sarah Cotting; Ting Bresnahan; Audrey Cochran; Jessica Earnest; Caroline Starry LeBlanc and Jared LeBlanc; John Blaisdell; Monica Hartland; and Ana Kohanloo. PHOTOGRAPHY DAVE ROSSMAN. A swanky evening was the modus operandi for this year's Alley Theatre Ball Kick-Off Party, held at the newly redesigned Louis Vuitton boutique at the Galleria. Ball chairmen Carol and Mike Linn (save the date: May 4, 2013) and Houston store director Andy Fullen welcomed 60 heavy-hitter guests to the handsome new digs which was recently doubled in size by architect Peter Marino. The 2013 Cruise Collection of men's and women's ready-towear, leather goods, shoes and accessories was on full view, and City Kitchen proffered bites, and a wealth of Veuve Clicquot (parent company LVMH owns both Vuitton and Moët Hennessy). Having a ball: Brian Teichman and Andrew Cordes, who will chair the 2014 Alley Ball; Dorothy and Mickey Ables, Jane and Dean Gladden, Lynn Wyatt, Julia and Mark Ellis, Kathryn and Jim Ketelsen, Cornelia and Meredith Long, Paula and Magnus Fyhr, Sharin and Larry Norman, Paige and Bob Martin, Amy Fote with Christoph Meyer, Lauren Freeman, Forrest Roth, Connie and Roger Plank, and Louis Skidmore.
