letter editor HUNT SLONEM A s we thankfully move into 2021, we have a combined January/February issue to share with you, celebrating design and art. One would think a combined issue would give our editorial team a respite, but March roars in with the production of three separate PaperCity editions in Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth; two weeks of the Round Top Spring Antiques Show and the publication of the Round Top Antiques Show Guide (which PaperCity recently acquired, along with Round Top Magazine and roundtop.com); and moving into the home stretch for Texas Design Week Houston and Houston PaperCity Design Awards (new spring dates to be announced soon). Therein lies the reason for a combined January/February issue. The Round Top Fall Antiques Show was a resounding success after the cancellation of the spring show due to COVID-19, with many dealers saying they had record-breaking attendance and sales … with all safety protocols in place. We are very ready to dive back into Texas Design Week Houston (and Dallas in the fall), both of which were canceled due to COVID. We're looking at April or May dates, moving TXDW Houston from its traditional March slot to give the vaccine more time to do its work. Thankfully, new things are happening all over the city. Two new Michelin-starred restaurants are opening at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's Kinder Building: The 65-seat Le Jardinier is expected to open by April, with a private entrance and window-walls to gaze out upon the Isamu Noguchi-designed Cullen Sculpture Garden. And Cafe Leonelli, which adjoins Le Jardinier and also serves up views of the Cullen Sculpture Garden, will open in March. The owner of both, Bastion Restaurants in New York City, also has Houston's La Table in its portfolio. See more on page 28. Two new home design juggernauts open this spring: Ballard Designs in River Oaks Shopping Center, and CB2 — the more modern sister to Crate & Barrel — opens in Rice Village. In with the new!
