A ntiques lovers, rejoice. After two long years, Houston Antiques + Art + Design Show (HAADS) returns to Silver Street Studios at Sawyer Yards Friday through Sunday, November 19 through 21. HAADS recommences with a new November date — the month of the now retired Theta Charity Antiques Show — and new and prestigious dealers, many previously showing at the shuttered Theta show. Show producer Dolphin Promotions (presenter of premier antique and vintage shows around the country such as Palm Springs Modernism) has secured prominent new exhibitors Trinity House Paintings of New York, London, and the Cotswalds (American and European paintings); Jayne Thompson Antiques of Harrodsburg, Kentucky (American and European furniture); William Cook Antiques of Berkshire, England renown; Jacob's Diamond & Estate Jewelry of Los Angeles (antique and estate jewelry); Antique Legacy of Upland, California (European furniture and fine arts); Silver Art by D & R of Marseille, France (sterling silver); and Atlanta Fine Oriental Rugs (European furniture and antique rugs). Media sponsor PaperCity previewed a sampling of exhibitors' offerings and can report that William Cook will show a 19th- century French mahogany and ormolu mounted console table, circa 1820, and a pair of 19th-century French armchairs with original needlework upholstery, circa 1840. Twenty-something sneakerhead/British reality TV star Tommy Mallet couldn't afford the most expensive shoes hitting THE BRITISH (TRAINERS) ARE COMING the market, so he created his own brand in 2015 with fashion-industry mate Evren Ozkarakasli. Sold at Selfridges and Harrods, Mallet trainers quickly became coveted, with new silhouettes and collaborations selling out within minutes, long wait lists, and celebrity fans including Craig David and Will.i.am joining the rush.
